So I took the 2nd of July off work at the nursery so I could 'get some more stuff done' - the refrain of my life, lately. When I told Collin, he said "You're off tomorrow? Drive with me, I need your logbook! I'm out of hours."
I waffled. It seems sometimes like there is a conspiracy to keep me from getting caught up.
But I packed up the dog and met Collin out at the truck stop. I climbed behind the wheel, and we were off, headed for the exotic town of Snohomish, WA.
The driving was good - I enjoyed it very much, despite getting caught in the rain, and one missed gear while climbing a hill that resulted in having to stop on the shoulder and start over again. Other than that, it was uneventful.
We made it safely to the mill in Snohomish, a quaint little town. I can't tell you too much about it - I was busy watching the road for my destination. But it was green, hilly, and had a definite small town feel to it.
It was a bit crowded in the truck with Buddy along for the ride, but I think it will be all right. We'll just have to give a lot of consideration to what we take along, and find a place for everything so everything can be in it's place. That may be a challenge, because Collin tends to not put anything back where he got it from. But he IS good at leaving my things alone, so I can stake a claim to a corner and at least keep my stuff organized. And then, when we get a bigger truck, we will really appreciate it.
We took another step toward 'getting 48 states' and bought our own 48' flatbed trailer. We are trying to sell the reefer. We haven't been able to keep busy running temp controlled, and it has just been sitting there with it's brand new motor... Not being attached to the company we were borrowing the 45' trailer from is a good next step.
Now I just need to get Fall Creek to a place where they feel they can cut me loose.
